Whitefish, a picturesque resort town in northwest Montana known for its proximity to Glacier National Park and world-class skiing, rang in the new year with the opening of a new luxury hotel. Larch House, a 39-room boutique hotel, is now welcoming travelers.
With a contemporary lodge design by architecture firm Olson Kundig, Larch House comprises 10 buildings around a central courtyard, where a boulder garden and firepits invite guests to gather. A rooftop heated pool and sundeck offer spectacular views of the nearby Rocky Mountain peaks.
Given the otherworldly landscape minutes from the hotel, Larch House intends to be a home base for travelers fly-fishing and rafting in the summertime or skiing the top-tier slopes at Whitefish Mountain Resort in the winter. (Ski storage is provided at the hotel.) On-site concierge services are on standby to help travelers map out their ideal stay. Dog-friendly rooms are also available. “Larch House serves as both a launch pad into the beautiful, big-sky landscape of Whitefish, Montana, and a place of refuge after time spent in that wild landscape,” says Tom Kundig, founder of Olson Kundig, in a statement sent to Travel + Leisure.

The hotel restaurants includes Enga, which serves elevated alpine cuisine in an upscale indoor-outdoor dining room, and the Antler Room, a lounge slinging cocktails and shared plates. There’s also a private event space called the Oak Room.
“We’re incredibly excited to officially open the doors to Larch House,” says Daniel Fuller, president of Shop Development, the Dallas-based real estate firm behind the hotel. “This project has always been about honoring the history of Whitefish while introducing a fresh, contemporary take on alpine hospitality.”
Rooms at Larch House start at $425 per night, and you can book at larchhouse.com.
