Malaysia’s transport ministry, in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Cyberview subsidiary Futurise, is inviting public feedback on the development of the country’s autonomous vehicle roadmap.
In a statement, MIROS said the initiative “forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to establish a strategic, phased and safety-driven direction for the safe development and deployment of autonomous vehicle technology in Malaysia.”
“The proposed roadmap is expected to serve as an important reference in shaping national approaches to policy, legislation, safety requirements, infrastructure readiness, testing mechanisms, public acceptance and the overall autonomous vehicle industry ecosystem,” the statement added.

Deputy investment, trade and industry minister Sim Tze Tzin said recently that Malaysia is aiming to achieve Level 3 autonomous driving capability by 2030, and a recent Ipsos survey found that 61% of Malaysians would feel safe riding in an autonomous vehicle.
