Raytheon, an RTX business, has signed a $3.7 billion contract to supply Patriot GEM-T interceptors for Ukraine, the company announced.
The agreement covers the delivery of Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical interceptors, one of the Patriot missile variants used by both U.S. operators and international customers. Raytheon said the missiles are intended to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter airborne threats, including tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and hostile aircraft.
The company did not provide a delivery timeline in its announcement, but said a newly established production facility in Schrobenhausen, Germany, is expected to play a central role in fulfilling the direct commercial sale and supporting additional contracts. The site is operated by COMLOG, a joint venture between Raytheon and MBDA Deutschland.

Raytheon said the German production line is also intended to improve supply chain resilience and help replenish Ukraine’s interceptor inventory as demand for Patriot missiles continues to rise.
“Raytheon is focused on maximizing production capacity, ensuring a steady, reliable supply of these combat-proven interceptors for the U.S. and allies like Ukraine who rely on Patriot to protect their citizens, infrastructure and sovereignty,” said Raytheon President Phil Jasper. “Raytheon is investing heavily to increase GEM-T production to support growing global demand, driven by major internal and partner investments, second-sourcing initiatives and the expansion of our global supply chain.”
The GEM-T is part of the Patriot Advanced Capability-2 missile family and serves as one of the principal interceptors used by the Patriot air and missile defense system. Unlike the more advanced PAC-3 interceptor, which is optimized for hit-to-kill ballistic missile engagements, the GEM-T is built as an upgraded PAC-2 missile designed to engage a broad range of airborne threats. Its mission set includes intercepting tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and manned aircraft, making it one of the key defensive weapons in layered air defense operations. The missile’s guidance and fuse upgrades are intended to improve engagement performance against maneuvering and low-altitude targets.
The Patriot system is a ground-based air defense network that uses radar to detect incoming threats and launch interceptors to destroy them before impact. In Ukraine’s case, Patriot batteries have been among the most important assets for defending cities, infrastructure, and critical military facilities from long-range missile strikes.
The contract underscores continued international efforts to sustain Ukraine’s air defense shield as Russian missile and drone attacks remain a central feature of the conflict. Patriot systems have been repeatedly used to counter ballistic missile threats and large-scale aerial attacks targeting urban centers and energy infrastructure.
Patriot remains one of the most widely fielded air defense systems in the world. Raytheon said it serves as the foundation of air defense for 19 countries and continues to demonstrate effectiveness against a wide range of airborne threats.
That international footprint has made the system a central component of allied missile defense planning, particularly as demand for interceptors has increased in both Europe and the Indo-Pacific.
