Jenelle Evans At Odds With Son Amid Leaked Texts

Jenelle Evans has broken her silence after the oldest of her three children sparked concerns about their relationship.

The speculations about the former MTV star’s household began after her teenage son, Jace Vahn Evans, leaked their heated text exchange on social media. The since-deleted posts captured a rift between him and his mom over her ex-husband, David Eason.

Jenelle Evans and David Eason legally separated in March 2024, seven years after welcoming their daughter, Ensley Jolie Eason. A year before their split, her ex-husband made waves for allegedly hitting Jace, which Jenelle vehemently denied.

Jenelle addressed the controversial matter in a statement on her Instagram Stories, revealing Jace had vindictively leaked their text messages following a disciplinary action. She stressed that the chats he posted were taken out of context to make her look bad because he was upset.

“Like any parent, I set rules and boundaries, and sometimes that isn’t easy. Jace’s posting our private texts was his reaction to being rightfully disciplined,” Jenelle explained. She noted it hurt to have the matter aired publicly; however, she understood Jace’s actions came “from a place of struggle.”

Jenelle blamed the incident on Jace’s different medical diagnoses, stressing that it was challenging to deal with his problems. Nonetheless, she continuously fought to ensure he had the “resources, love, and support he needs” and vowed to remain by his side.

Jenelle concluded her message with a plea for understanding as she and her family sorted out their differences privately. She shed more light on what caused Jace’s disciplinary action in a separate post, claiming he had gotten in trouble with the law these past few months.

She noted the outburst stemmed from Jace’s difficulty adjusting to the rules set to keep him out of trouble. “I’ve been trying everything to help him navigate it, but we are butting heads in the process,” Jenelle explained, doubling down on her plea for empathy and understanding.

TMZ covered Jace’s since-deleted posts, which featured screenshots of his text exchange with Jenelle. In one screenshot, he accused his mom of not caring about him and claimed he did not care about her or himself. Jenelle replied: “You’re the one saying you’re going to have my custody taken. F-CK YOU.”

Another heated exchange between Jenelle and Jace stemmed from his allegations that her ex-husband had strangled him. The mother of three claimed her son had lied about the incident, but the teenager remained adamant that David had hurt it.

The alleged issues between Jace and David made waves two years ago when the latter was slapped with a child abuse charge. Authorities and child protective services became involved in the Evans household after Jace ran away from home a third time.

Court documents, per RadarOnline, noted that David was accused of hurting Jace and leaving visible marks on his body. The documents also claimed that the police and child protective services obtained a video that detailed the alleged assault.

Jenelle defended her then-husband against Jace, claiming the incident stemmed from David searching her son and confiscating items from him. “The other kids are doing great. David keeps saying [Jace] was raised for 14 years by Barbara. It’s not us,” she explained.

Jenelle signed over custody of Jace to her mother, Barbara, shortly after welcoming him at 17. She didn’t regain custody of her oldest child until March 2023, years after welcoming her second son, Kaiser Orion, with her former partner, Nathan Griffith, and a daughter with her ex-husband.

The former reality TV star blamed the abuse allegations on Jace’s mental health, noting he had been struggling with issues for the past two to three years.

Jenelle suspected the teenager’s attempts to escape home and outbursts were side effects of his medications. “He’s in intensive therapy at the moment and getting the help he needs,” she said in 2023.
