2026 Jaecoo J7 price and specs: Entry price rises after base Core dropped

After being launched last year, the Jaecoo J7 enters 2026 unchanged apart from the axing of the base Core.

This brings the base price up to $37,990 drive-away from $34,990 drive-away, though until the end of this month the J7 Track – now the entry point to the range – is being offered for $34,990 drive-away.

The now-defunct Core did without other J7s’ front parking sensors, surround-view camera, driver’s knee airbag, power tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, ambient lighting and illuminated vanity mirrors.

It also featured a six-speaker unbranded sound system, instead of an eight-speaker Sony unit.

Deliveries of the Jaecoo J7 – the Omoda Jaecoo brand’s debut model in Australia – commenced in May 2025. Despite not being on sale for a full year, a total of 2706 J7s reached customers in 2025, outselling a handful of mid-size SUVs including the Renault Koleos (1027) and all of KGM’s mid-sizers combined (643).

The J7 was followed by the larger Jaecoo J8 and Omoda 9 later in 2025, with the small Jaecoo J5 launching this year.
